Mohammed Shami has been a revelation in the Cricket World Cup 2023. With 23 wickets in six matches, the Indian cricket team star pacer is among the top wicket-takers in the Cricket world Cup 2023.

In the semi-final against New Zealand, Mohammed Shami made history by recording the best-ever wicket haul by an Indian bowler in 50-over World Cup history.

Shami's seven-wicket haul and Virat Kohli's record 50th ODI century were the highlights as India secured a 70-wicket win over New Zealand in the semifinal of the Cricket World Cup at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium on Wednesday.

Shami took seven wickets for 57 runs off 9.5 overs at an economy rate of 5.79. His lethal spell overshadowed Ashish Nehra's figures of 6/23 against England in the 2003 World Cup, to be the best-ever by an Indian in WC history.

The World Cup trophy was not meant to be his, but India's 'Captain Fearless' Rohit Sharma gave everything on the field and so did Mohammed Shami, who set the record for most fifers in the tournament's history. India's World Cup dream also had Virat Kohli creating history with his 765 runs and notching up the 50th century to finish as the Player of the Tournament, but there were remarkable performers from the other teams as well. South Africa once again crashed in the semifinal stage but looked formidable yet again, courtesy aggressive batters such as Quinton de Kock and Heinrich Klaasen and for New Zealand, the young Rachin Ravindra made it a tournament to remember.
