Saudi Arabia kicked off their campaign at the Women’s International Friendly Tournament with a 1-0 win over Mauritius on Wednesday night at Prince Saud bin Jalawi Stadium in Alkhobar.
The Kingdom’s winning goal came from Miriam Al-Tamimi on 44 minutes, and the win now leaves coach Monika Staab’s team joint top in the group — which is being contested in a round-robin format — after one round of matches.
In the tournament’s opening match, Pakistan set the early pace by beating Comoros 1-0 with a last-minute goal from Anmol Hira, and now share the lead in the standings after the host nation’s win.
