Hibs star Ryan Porteous has hinted that he could make an exit from the club in the not-so-distant future after admitting he wishes to 'test himself at the highest level' following success with Scotland.
Porteous was thrust into the deep end in Krakow for his Tartan Army debut, earning his first cap in the most tense of circumstances with Scotland needing a draw against Ukraine to qualify for Nations League 1.
A strong, composed performance made him Scotland's standout player in eastern Europe to bring home unprecedented joy for Steve Clarke' s men, with much of the nation swooning over his outing as a result.
However, good performances bring about increased interest from richer and bigger clubs, meaning the Edinburgh-born star could move on in the summer should he choose to run his current contract down at Hibs, And, following his superb performance on the international stage, the Hibs hero has not ruled out moving at the end of the season after stating that testing himself amongst the best is the 'ultimate goal'. “I think I’m similar to every player, or the majority of players in that I want to play at the highest level and test myself at the highest level,” Porteous said. “It was only a few years ago that I was playing with John McGinn here, and look at him now, the captain of Aston Villa and has captained Scotland in the last three games. “That’s the ultimate goal if you can test yourself at the highest level, and just training with those boys and being with them for a week, I feel it just pushes you on a lot in such a short space of time and that’s obviously something that I do want to achieve going forward.”
