India skipper Rohit Sharma is hoping that star pacer Jasprit Bumrah who has been out of action since September last year,  can get enough playing time before the  ODI World Cup in October this year.

Jasprit Bumrah has been out of action since September 2022 owing to his injury and missed the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia.

He also missed the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, a tournament in which he represents Mumbai Indians (MI). Last week the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) provided medical updates on star pacer and released a statement "Mr Jasprit Bumrah and Mr Prasidh Krishna: The two fast bowlers are in the final stages of their rehab and are bowling with full intensity in the nets.

The duo will now play some practice games, which the NCA will organise. The BCCI Medical Team is pleased with their progress and will make a final decision after assessing them following the practice games," a statement from BCCI read said.

After two back-to-back losses, Team India finally took a sigh of relief after they registered a comfortable seven-wicket victory over West Indies in the third T20I of Tuesday. Trailing 1-2 in the five-match series, the Hardik Pandya-led side chased down the target of 160 in just 17.5 overs. The major contribution came from batter Suryakumar Yadav, who turned on his beast mode and smashed 83 runs off just 44 balls. It was a great moment for the Indian camp to see a brilliant innings from Surya as the batter had been struggling to get runs for quite some time now. In the recently concluded ODI series, Surya failed to leave a mark, which has put questions about his place in the squad for the upcoming ODI World Cup.
The emergence of young batter Tilak Varma has given the Indian cricket team and its fans plenty of hope. The left-handed batter did wonders for the team in the first three T20Is against West Indies, playing a responsible yet attractive style of batting. His success made many wonder whether the 20-year-old batter can be considered the No. 4 spot in the Indian team for the ODI World Cup 2023. India skipper Rohit Sharma, when asked about the same, didn't shut the doors on his Mumbai Indians teammate.
Several new players have made their senior international debut in the Indian team since the conclusion of the 2022 T20 World Cup. While the likes of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have been away from the T20 format entirely, they were even kept away from the ODI side in the recent showdown against West Indies. With the Asia Cup being Team India's next big event, skipper Rohit Sharma suggested that even he isn't an automatic selection in the squad at the moment. Rohit also hinted that there will be pressure on some players to perform at the Asia Cup with World Cup spots up for grabs.
