The Newlands pitch has been in the headlines ever since the first day of the second Test between India and South Africa saw a whopping 23 wickets fall.

As game resumed on the second day, India struck early, with Jasprit Bumrah sending back David Bedingham. However, not longer after the Proteas lost their 4th wicket of the second innings, play came to a brief halt as India pacer Mukesh Kumar complained of a hole in the pitch where his foot was landing while bowling.

Though India captain Rohit Sharma downplayed the situation, hammers came out as the ground staff looked to resolve the matter.

The members of the ground staff weren't the only ones who tried to fix the pitch using a hammer as a few Indian players also tried their hand at the same, attempting to level the landing area so that match could resume.

Till now, both India and Pakistan have the joint most whitewash bilateral series in T20I history (8). However, a win in the third T20I on Wednesday will take India's tally to 9 and they will become the first team ever to achieve that feat.
India defeated Afghanistan by six wickets in the first T20I encounter in Mohali on Thursday but it was not without controversies as skipper Rohit Sharma was left frustrated after he was dismissed for a duck following a mix-up with opening partner Shubman Gill. Rohit played a delivery from Fazalhaq Farooqi to mid-off and called for a single. However, Gill was watching the ball and did not move resulting in Rohit getting run-out without scoring a single run. The veteran batter was clearly livid at the situation and he was even seen gesturing his frustration to Gill.
