A big shift was brought in India's T20 setup after the conclusion of the 2022 T20 World Cup, with Hardik Pandya leading the Indian team in the shortest format.

Though the likes of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli haven't quit the format, the two continue to remain sidelined in T20s, with the selectors preferring to give opportunities to youngsters.

While there remain doubts over Rohit's continuity beyond the 2023 ODI World Cup, the Hitman himself dropped a major hint suggesting he isn't planning to call it quits anytime soon.

In a video that has surfaced online, Rohit could be seen talking about the 2024 T20 World Cup, which is to take place in the United States of America and West Indies.

Yashasvi Jaiswal hammered an explosive 84 not out of 51 balls as India thrashed West Indies by nine wickets in the fourth T20I in Lauderhill on Saturday. Jaiswal pummelled West Indies all across the park, hitting 11 fours and three sixes during his stay in the middle, and helped the visitors level the five-match series ahead of the decider later today. The 21-year-old not only won the Player of the Match, but also broke a huge record held by India captain Rohit Sharma.
Former Pakistan pacer Sarfaraz Nawaz finds the Babar Azam-led side a more stable unit than India as the arch-rivals have not been able to "work out" their combinations going into the Asia Cup and subsequent ODI World Cup. India will go into the Asia Cup, starting August 31, without finalising their middle-order. “Pakistan has a much more settled and stable outfit for the Asia Cup and World Cup when compared to India. The Indians have still not been able to work out their final combination for these major events,” Nawaz told the media in Lahore on Friday.
After two back-to-back losses, Team India finally took a sigh of relief after they registered a comfortable seven-wicket victory over West Indies in the third T20I of Tuesday. Trailing 1-2 in the five-match series, the Hardik Pandya-led side chased down the target of 160 in just 17.5 overs. The major contribution came from batter Suryakumar Yadav, who turned on his beast mode and smashed 83 runs off just 44 balls. It was a great moment for the Indian camp to see a brilliant innings from Surya as the batter had been struggling to get runs for quite some time now. In the recently concluded ODI series, Surya failed to leave a mark, which has put questions about his place in the squad for the upcoming ODI World Cup.
There remains a big debate over Suryakumar Yadav's place in the Indian ODI team. The batter is widely considered No. 1 in the T20I format but he is some distance away from realising his potential in the 50-over format. Though the Indian team remains buoyant over the long-term plans involving Suryakumar as India's No. 4 batter, the Mumbai Indians star still needs to fire and replay the faith shown in him by the team. As the clock for the ODI World Cup squad selection keeping ticking, former Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) chief selector MSK Prasad feels Surya will definitely be a part f the mega event.
