Millwall have signed Burnley striker Michael Obafemi on loan until the end of the season. The Republic of Ireland forward becomes the Lions' second signing of the current transfer window following the arrival of Japhet Tanganga from Tottenham earlier this month. The 23-year-old previously played for Southampton and Swansea.

After sustaining an injury picked up while on international duty last summer, Obafemi has only played twice for the Clarets since he regained full fitness, coming on as a sub against Arsenal and Sheffield United in the Premier League.Millwall head coach Joe Edwards believes that Obafemi has "pace and power in abundance".

Speaking further on his latest addition to the squad, Edwards told millwallfc.co.uk. "He has played at Premier League level and Championship level and scored goals at both."We became aware that he could leave Burnley on loan and after speaking to him, he was keen to come and join us.

It worked well for both parties, so we were happy to make it happen quickly. I'm delighted to have him here."I've been saying since the lead-up to the transfer window that there were two things I was looking for; people who will improve us and have an impact as well having more athleticism in our squad - I'm talking pace and power."If you're talking about that, Michael has got that in abundance.
