Star batter Virat Kohli is currently not part of the Indian for the ongoing white-ball series against West Indies. Kohli, who is struggling with the bat, will be back with the team for the upcoming Asia Cup in late August.

The tournament will be held in UAE, and the format has again been changed to the T20s. While Kohli's recent run form has raised questions over his place in the Indian team, the former India captain said that he is ready to do anything to help the team win Asia Cup as well as T20 World Cup titles. "My main aim is to help India win the Asia Cup and the World Cup and for that I am ready to do anything for the team," Star Sports quoted Kohli as saying.

Virat Kohli has started his preparation ahead of the Asia Cup, which will be held from August 27-September 11 in UAE. Since the last couple of days, Kohli has been training at Mumbai Cricket Association’s Indoor Cricket Academy at BKC, along with his IPL team, Royal Challengers Bangalore coach Sanjay Bangar. Bangar is India’s ex-batting coach.
India are slated to taken on Pakistan in the Asia Cup on 28th August and the biggest threat for the star-studded Indian batting line-up will once again be the left-handed paceman Shaheen Shah Afridi. It was Afridi, who dented India's chances in last year's T20 World Cup clash between the arch rivals as he dismissed openers Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul during a fiery spell.
Asia Cup 2022 is all set to kick off on August 28 in the United Arab Emirates. The continental event will once again see arch-rivals India and Pakistan battle it out against each other. Given that the sides play head-to-head matches only in multi-team tournaments since January 2013, their face-off has become much more valuable in the past decade. While the sides first face each other on August 28 in the upcoming Asia Cup, chances are high that they will square off again in the later part of the tournament, not once but twice.
Even one year back it was beyond imagination that Virat Kohli's place in the Indian team could be questioned. Kohli is fit and available but perhaps for the first time in a decade, the former India captain's presence in the playing eleven could be a point of discussion in cricketing circle. The T20 World Cup in the UAE last year was an unmitigated disaster and it was largely due to India's archaic batting philosophy at the top of the order. The runs scored did not come at a good pace.
After clinching the white-ball series against West Indies, Team India is all geared up for their next assignment and that is the upcoming Asia Cup. The tournament will also mark the return of India star batter Virat Kohli on the field, as he was rested for the series against West Indies. As the Asia Cup is just around the corner, Kohli is trying to prepare to the best of his ability. In a video posted on the Instagram handle of Kohli, he was seen sweating it out in a practice session while wearing a Manchester City Jersey.
India's 15-member squad for the August 27-September 11 Asia Cup had many top stars like Virat Kohli and KL Rahul returning after a gap, while there were some notable omissions too. Jasprit Bumrah missed out due to injury, and another big name who was missing was left-handed opener Ishan Kishan. The big-hitting youngster has been a constant in the Indian team in recent times. However, the re-entry of opener Rahul and the presence of several other top-order options, meant that Kishan was not picked. He was not even named among the three standbys.
