Punjab Kings IPL 2025 Retentions: Full List Of Players Retained And Released

Punjab Kings will go in with a massive auction budget of Rs 110.5 cr, having retained only two uncapped Indian players ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction.

Star pacer Arshdeep Singh was not kept on, with the franchise choosing to keep four Right to Match (RTM) cards for the mega auction.

As per the BCCI rule, all the ten franchises were asked to submit the final list of their retained players by Thursday, October 31.

IPL 2024 was yet another disappointing season for PBKS as they once again failed to reach the playoffs. Ahead of the retentions, their skipper Shikhar Dhawan announced his retirement while the franchise appointed Ricky Ponting as their new head coach.  PLAYERS RETAINED: 1.

Rishabh Pant's 9-year connection with Delhi Capitals (DC) came to an end, as the 2020 IPL finalists instead decide to make Axar Patel their most expensive retention. Kuldeep Yadav will also stay at DC for IPL 2025. DC had yet another mediocre outing in the previous edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Playing under the captaincy of Rishabh Pant, DC finished at sixth place with seven wins out of 14 matches. For the upcoming mega auctions, DC have parted ways with their skipper and wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant. Pant will now be going under the hammer in the upcoming auctions, which will take place in November. 
Shubman Gill was not named as Gujarat Titans' most expensive retention, with that honour going to Afghanistan all-rounder Rashid Khan ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction. The franchise also kept hold of two surprise uncapped Indian players. Gujarat Titans left everyone utterly impressed as they clinched the IPL title in their inaugural season in 2022. Under the captaincy of Hardik Pandya, they went on to play the final in IPL 2023 but lost lost to Chennai Super Kings. However in 2024, Hardik left the Gujarat-based franchise to reunite with his old team Mumbai Indians and Shubman Gill took as the skipper of the team. In that season, GT failed to get through the playoffs. GT have now announced the names of their retained players for the upcoming mega auctions.

The IPL 2025 retentions are here and there were quite a few surprises in store for the fans. Three major captains - Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer - will all enter the IPL auction pool after they were not retained by Delhi Capitals, Lucknow Super Giants and defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders respectively. Mumbai Indians, on the other hand, kept their core intact by keeping all four of their superstars - Suryakumar Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya.
