The turbulent Manchester United career of Phil Jones has seen yet another low as the veteran defender reportedly no longer shares a dressing room with the Red Devils’ first-team stars. The injury-prone 30-year-old centre-back has made just 13 appearances for the club in the last four seasons after suffering a succession of fitness setbacks.
The main changing room at the United’s Carrington training complex now bursting at the seams following the summer arrivals of Christian Eriksen, Casemiro, Martin Dubravka, Tyrell Malacia and former Ajax duo Antony and Lisandro Martinez.
Due to those space restrictions, Jones must now dress in the Under-23 changing room. Others believed to have been told to relocate by the Dutchman include third-choice left-back Brandon Williams, as well as fellow youngsters Teden Mengi, Axel Tuanzebe and Shola Shoretire.
All except Jones are early in their careers and still have an opportunity to force their way back into first-team contention.
