Paul Scholes believes Alejandro Garnacho “went up another level” in his development after putting in an excellent performance in Manchester United’s 2-1 win over Chelsea.

The 19-year-old was involved in much of the attacking play, grabbing an assist for match hero Scott McTominay’s second goal of the night.

Garnacho himself mustered eight shots during the match, albeit only one was on target. Nevertheless, he got himself into some good positions, and perhaps felt he should have done better with a number of chances, but was a handful for the Chelsea defence all night. “I thought Garnacho was excellent,” Scholes told Premier League Productions. I know Scott scored two goals and got player of the match but I thought Garnacho was excellent and he went up another level tonight.” Garnacho has now started the last eight matches for United and is considered a starting XI regular just 15 months after making his full senior debut.
