Despite playing the ongoing third Ashes Test match between Australia and England at Headingley in Leeds, Pat Cummins and David Warner took their time out to join the Threads app.

Soon after joining the platform, Warner put up a post tagging his Australian teammate Pat Cummins. "Hey I'm now on Threads," wrote Warner.

Cummins, in his reply, came out with a special request. "No dance videos on here plz," he commented. What added more fun was the comment of India's wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant on it. "Best advice bro," wrote the Indian southpaw. See the interaction here: On Threads -- Meta's rival to Twitter -- people can post text and links and reply to or repost messages from others.

It will also let users port over their existing follower lists and account names from Instagram. Talking about the Ashes 2023, Cummins-led Australia lead 2-0 after winning the first two games by two wickets and 43 runs, respectively.

Australia stalwart David Warner has laughed off talks of his retirement after The Oval Ashes Test beginning on Thursday, but confirmed that he will call it quits from the longest format next year. There was speculation of Warner's imminent retirement after the former England captain Michael Vaughan said he had heard "whispers" during the Old Trafford Test that the final Ashes encounter could be Warner's last. But Warner rubbished any such suggestions on the eve of the final Ashes Test.
Australia captain Pat Cummins insists his side's ambition to win a Test series in England remains undimmed after they retained the Ashes in a rain-marred draw at Old Trafford. Persistent rain meant Sunday's final day of the fourth Test was washed out without a ball bowled as England were denied the chance of a series-levelling win in a match they had dominated. The result ensured Australia, as the holders, kept the Ashes at 2-1 up with one match left in the series -- regardless of the result of the fifth Test at The Oval starting on Thursday.
David Warner has kept his place in Australia's XI for the fourth Ashes Test at Old Trafford despite the opener's ongoing struggles against England paceman Stuart Broad. But spinner Todd Murphy could be omitted when the match starts Wednesday as Australia contemplate going into a Test without a frontline slow bowler for the first time in 11 years. Australia captain Pat Cummins, bidding to lead the side to a first Ashes series win in England since 2001 at 2-1 up with two to play, said Tuesday that Warner would continue to open alongside Usman Khawaja. Warner managed just five runs in total as he fell twice to Broad during England's three-wicket win in the third Test at Headingley.
The legendary Ricky Ponting feels Australian skipper Pat Cummins is more of an old fashioned Test captain, who lets "plans unravel" while his English counter part Ben Stokes tries to make something happen every ball. The decisions of the two relatively new captains in the ongoing Ashes series have given rise to intense debates. While Stokes' call to declare early in the first innings in the opening Test was dissected by media and pundits alike, Cummins' sparse use of rookie spinner Todd Murphy in the loss at Headingley also raised eyebrows.
The ongoing Ashes series between England and Australia is getting more intense with every passing game. After taking a 2-0 lead, the visitors faced a three-wicket defeat in the third match as the series now stands at 2-1. Australia skipper Pat Cummins has been outstanding in the series, so far. Apart from shining with the ball, the ace pacer also played an unbeaten knock of 44 runs, and guided his team to victory in the first Test. As both teams are now preparing for the fourth Test, the question arises whether the team management will be resting Cummins to manage his workload.
