Novak Djokovic has been fined £6,117 for smashing his racquet against the net post during the Wimbledon men's singles final against Carlos Alcaraz.

The incident happened in the fifth set of his defeat to the 20-year-old when his serve was broken in the third game. Ad Umpire Fergus Murphy issued Djokovic a warning for a code violation before the 23-time Grand Slam champion eventually went on to lose to Alcaraz 1-6 7-6(6) 6-1 3-6 6-4 after four hours and 42 minutes.

On Monday, the fine was issued to the seven-time Wimbledon champion and will be deducted from his runner-up cheque of £1.175m.
