Eddie Howe is reluctant to lose Martin Dubravka to Manchester United but he admitted the decision is out of his hands. Erik ten Hag wants to sign another goalkeeper to challenge David de Gea and Dubravka, 33, has been earmarked as a suitable candidate for a move to Old Trafford.

Dubravka has spent four years with Newcastle and is contracted until 2025. Dubravka was Newcastle's No.1 until the arrival of Nick Pope from Burnley in June.

It is understood Dubravka is frustrated at losing his starting position and that has encouraged United to enter negotiations with Newcastle to sign the Slovakia international. The Newcastle boss confirmed there have been talks between the two clubs while he also admitted the decision will be out of his hands. "I don't think he's in talks with Manchester United," Howe said. "There has been contact between the clubs but that will be something that will continue to happen, as in the discussions, but in terms of a final outcome, I'm very reluctant to lose any important players. "So, it's a decision that is out of my hands really." Dubravka made his Premier League debut against United in February 2018.
