A national manhunt for an escaped terror suspect is underway. Every airport and port across the country is on alert, as a search for continues.
The 21-year-old serving member of the British Army is awaiting trial for terror and Official Secrets Act offences. He escaped from Wandsworth prison on Wednesday morning (September 6), the Metropolitan Police said.
Airports across the country are carrying out additional checks on passengers. People travelling through Manchester Airport faced major delays and queues at security.
Border Force queues are building at airports across the country. A post shared by Manchester Airport on X said: "Our security teams work hard to ensure the safety and security of all at Manchester Airport and carry out important checks set by the UK Government." A Met Police press release reads: "Khalife was on remand at HMP Wandsworth, awaiting trial in relation to terrorism and Official Secrets Act offences.
