Nathan Patterson is heading back to Merseyside as he faces an anxious wait for news on the extent of his latest lay-off. Scotland ace had to be stretchered down the tunnel as he lasted less than half an hour of Wednesday’s impressive win over Ukraine before suffering a fresh injury scare.

The former Rangers kid has only just recently returned from ankle surgery and will now fear another stint on the sidelines could stunt his Goodison career just as it’s getting into full flow.

The 20-year-old right back has been in sensational form for Frank Lampard’s Toffees this term having finally broken into the Premier League outfit’s line-up after a difficult first six months south of the border.

He’s started all seven of their English top flight games this campaign so far, winning rave reviews from the Everton faithful.
