Motherwell have been given a boost by news that striker Kevin van Veen has signed a one-year contract extension. The talismanic striker is contracted at the Fir Park club until 2024, and is a timely boost ahead of their Europa Conference League second qualifying round second leg against Sligo Rovers on Thursday evening.

Motherwell currently trail the Irish side 1-0. Van Veen joined Motherwell from Scunthorpe in 2021 and was top scorer last season with 11 goals.

Boss Graham Alexander told the club's website: "I'm glad we have secured Kevin for another two seasons after a great impact in his first year with us. "He has flourished being in a place where he has trust, respect, and a team he enjoys playing with. "I believe he has even more in the tank, and I know how much he wants to help us continue our success from last year." @LanLiveSport, Facebook Instagram
