The Indian cricket board (BCCI), late on Friday, announced the squad for the first two Tests against England. The Indian cricket team will face England in a five-match series staring later this month.

Indian cricket team fast bowler Mohammed Shami missed out due to injury while Ishan Kishan, who asked for a break mid-way through India's Tour of South Africa, was also not picked.

However, the inclusion of Uttar Pradesh player Dhruv Jurel headlined the selection. The 22-year-old was a part of India A squad that played two matches against their South African counterparts in December last year.

He had made a 69 in the second match at Benoni and more recently made a 63 for UP against Kerala in a first round group game of the Ranji Trophy at Alappuzha.

Rohit Sharma was on Tuesday named captain of the ICC ODI Team of the Year, which featured five other Indians including star batter Virat Kohli and the pace duo of Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj. The team mostly included the World Cup finalists -- India (runner-up) and Australia (winner) -- besides players from semi-finalists New Zealand and South Africa, the ICC said in a statement. The top order includes openers Rohit and Shubman Gill. While the Indian captain accumulated 1,255 runs at an average of 52 last year, the latter struck a brilliant 208 against the Kiwis and also finished as the highest run-scorer (1,584) in the format.
Only if Mohammed Shami's magical performances were not enough, his brother Mohammed Kaif is setting the cricketing world on fire. Having bowled a magical spell of 4 for 14, Kaif stepped up with the bat at number 9 with an unbeaten 45 to help Bengal take the first-innings lead of 128 runs against his home side Uttar Pradesh on day two of their Ranji Trophy Group B match in Kanpur on Saturday. It is worth noting that this is the first time Kaif is playing First-Class.
While the Indian Premier League and international cricket are absolutely separate from each other, franchises do take to social media to share posts on Team India's assignments to gain traction. However, as Mumbai Indians shared a post after the announcement of Team India's squad for the first two Tests against England, some of Rohit Sharma's fans weren't pleased. In the post, fans could spot the pictures of KL Rahul, Jasprit Bumrah, and Shreyas Iyer, but Rohit was absent despite being the captain of the team.
