Montpellier 10-21 Ospreys: Welsh side claim scalp of French champions with incredible performance

walesonline.co.uk

The Ospreys claimed a massive scalp as they defeated French champions Montpellier in their own backyard to breathe life into their Champions Cup campaign.

After last week's home defeat to English Premiership holders Leicester Tigers, this was the perfect response as the Ospreys produced their best performance of the season - with Sam Parry, Kieran Williams and Morgan Morris crossing for tries in a frankly incredible 80-minutes from the Welsh side.

Across the board, there were standout performances - with Morris once again superlative, Rhys Webb and Owen Williams shining in the half-back positions and Rhys Davies outlining his Test credentials. For much of the first-half, the Ospreys were penned in their own half, with the home side piling on the pressure.

However, Toby Booth's side were resilient in their defence and, other than an early Louis Carbonel penalty, they kept Montpellier at bay for the opening 40 minutes.
