Manchester City star Manuel Akanji is a maths genius. The 27-year-old Swiss international, who joined Pep Guardiola’s side in the summer transfer window, has enjoyed a solid start to his career with the reigning Premier League champions.

Whilst competition being fierce in his new side has meant Akanji has been limited to four appearances so far, he’s impressed on each occasion and his stature in the squad is on the rise.

Speaking to Man City’s website, the centre back credited the management team and his teammates with his seamless transition to life at his new club. “They knew that I could fit into that system, but my teammates made it easy for me on the pitch and they gave me a lot of solutions. “The coach and the coaching staff told me what they expect of me before the game, and I try to do that. “I think in these first four games I have played it has gone really well for me.

I try to do it every day in training, so it makes it easier for me in the game.” Akanji clearly has an exceptional mentality and is performing to a high standard already.
