Manchester United youngster Kobbie Mainoo has confirmed 'it won't be too long' until he returns from injury. Mainoo was the breakout star of United's pre-season this summer, but his dream start against Real Madrid in the States quickly turned into a nightmare when he sustained an ankle injury following a collision with Rodrygo.

The academy graduate was forced off the pitch and it was confirmed he'd be sidelined for the first part of the season. "We have seen him against Arsenal [in pre-season], he is ready to also to pick that role," he said. "At this moment, he’s not available but I think he will also, in say one, two months.

Not in one month, but in two months, he will be available and so, for the winter [that] is coming up, he absolutely will have his games." Mainoo has now given a further update on social media by responding to a comment made by club captain Bruno Fernandes.

After the youngster uploaded a picture to Instagram, Fernandes commented on the post, replying: "Nice pictures and fashion but on the pitch when I can see you?" Mainoo replied: "Not too long brother." It's thought Mainoo could return from his ankle injury to play near the end of September.
