Manchester United confirmed on Tuesday that Mason Mount will miss games against Nottingham Forest and Arsenal. Mount picked up a 'small complaint' during Saturday's 2-0 defeat at Tottenham, meaning he will be absent until the September International break.
He was substituted off in the 85th-minute in north London, having struggled to make an impact again. Erik ten Hag was already eyeing midfield reinforcements, but news of Mount's injury might just force him to push the button.
A late move for Ryan Gravenberch is being considered, while long-standing interest in Sofyan Amrabat remains. United are also working on a deal for a new goalkeeper and carried out initial medical checks on Fenerbahce's Altay Bayindir on Tuesday.
The 25-year-old is available for around €5m (£4.2m) and would likely come in if Dean Henderson leaves. The Reds goalkeeper is one of several potential departures over the next nine days, with Mason Greenwood, Donny van de Beek, Brandon Williams and Eric Bailly all attracting interest.
