He had just flown more than 4,500 miles overnight from Manchester to Yamoussoukro via a weather delay. But his omission in the country’s last two matches will have been a punch to the stomach.
By dropping Onana, Cameroon head coach Rigobert Song has dared to do something Erik ten Hag is yet to this season. The goalkeeper had previously fallen out with the national team manager but reversed his decision after signing for Manchester United, this time causing a headache for his club boss.
