A spectacular end-of-year firework display will light up the sky above Manchester City Centre this New Year's Eve for the first time since the pandemic.

The first major firework celebration in the city since 2019 will take place this Sunday, 31 December at Castlefield Bowl. The free-to-attend firework event is open to all and especially geared towards families with live entertainment and a traditional countdown to mark the beginning of the new year.

Castlefield Bowl is typically known for hosting open-air live music events in the summer as part of Sounds of the City. The last time a New Year's Eve fireworks celebration was held in the city was December 2019 when thousands gathered on Deansgate to watch the countdown to midnight next to Manchester Cathedral.

In previous years, Albert Square has always been the traditional home to the countdown to midnight on the Town Hall clock.
