Man Utd facing 'tough negotiations' over £68m star at Old Trafford

Manchester United are preparing themselves for a ‘tough negotiation’ as they attempt to lure Antony to Old Trafford, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano. The Red Devils have endured a woeful start to the campaign, but boss Erik ten Hag could freshen up his squad ahead of the September 1 deadline.

According to The Athletic, Manchester United have revived their interest in Antony and tested Ajax’s resolve with a fresh bid.

However, the report suggests the proposal – worth just short of £68million – was rejected by the reigning Eredivisie champions and, as a result, the Red Devils are facing a challenge as they continue to pursue the nine-cap Brazil international.

Romano has revealed that Manchester United are planning to approach Ajax again before the transfer window slams shut. But, with the Dutch giants desperate to hold onto Antony, PSV Eindhoven’s Cody Gakpo has been identified as an alternative option by ten Hag.
