According to team boss Toto Wolff, Mercedes, the Formula 1 powerhouse, is gearing up with fresh W14 upgrades for the upcoming British Grand Prix. After abandoning the zero-sidepod concept in Monaco, Mercedes secured a commendable two-three finish in Spain and another podium for Lewis Hamilton in Canada, propelling them to second place in the Constructors' standings. The intention behind the Monaco upgrades was never to challenge Red Bull directly.

Instead, it aimed to provide Mercedes with a solid foundation to build upon and close the gap on the leading team. New upgrade Wolff has now confirmed that a substantial upgrade package is in the works for Silverstone on 9 July."We are bringing a larger (upgrade package) to Silverstone," stated Wolff, addressing the media."And then we should have another one before the (summer) shutdown (prior to the Belgian Grand Prix at the end of July)."Wolff expressed confidence in the team's progress, stating: "The learnings [of the car] have accelerated a lot since we changed some of the conceptual architecture."There should be decent steps coming in the next four races, and we are understanding better the simulations, which correlates with what we are seeing on track.

We have a better understanding of what the car needs to go fast."With Mercedes' performance gains evident from wind-tunnel data, the team is making significant strides."The steps are getting bigger now, and we are making good inroads," added Wolff. The Austrian Grand Prix is the next stop on the F1 calendar, scheduled for Sunday, 2 July, at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg, Austria.
