Langholm teenager Matilda Brockley represented Scottish Schools Athletics in the Schools International Athletics Board Track and Field Championships in Grangemouth on Sunday.

The 15-year-old competed against the best young athletes from England, Ireland and Wales. She had been selected for Scotland in the triple jump and hurdles, however, both events clashed on the programme.

Matilda chose to represent her country in the triple jump and with each athlete having six jumps, she was sitting in third place with one round of jumps remaining after setting a new personal best with a jump of 11.58m.

On an earlier jump, one of the Welsh athletes set a new British record and, frustratingly for Matilda, one of the English athletes jumped 8cm further on her last jump to push her into fourth place which denied her a place on the podium.
