La Liga to investigate Vinicius Junior racist chants from Atletico Madrid v Real Madrid derby

La Liga has stated it will work with the authorities to identify those involved with racist chanting towards Vinicius Junior after the Real Madrid player was targeted during the Madrid derby.

A number of racist chants were aimed at Vinicius by Atletico Madrid fans before and during the match which Real Madrid won 2-1.

Ad Vinicius was criticised for his goal celebrations earlier this month, and when Rodrygo scored the opening goal, the Brazilian joined him in a celebratory dance on the touchline.

Atletico Madrid on Tuesday for not taking a stand against the racist chants from their supporters aimed at Real Madrid winger Vinicius Junior. Some sectors of the crowd chanted "You are a monkey, Vinicius, you are a monkey," before and during Real Madrid's 2-1 win at Atletico's Metropolitano stadium on Sunday, while missiles including lighters were thrown at him and Brazilian compatriot Rodrygo as they celebrated a goal. Liga will report the events to the Spanish Football Federation's disciplinary committee but Atletico have not made a public statement about the incidents.
La Liga has condemned hate speech after Atletico Madrid fans were filmed racially abusing Real Madrid forward Vinicius Jr outside their Metropolitano Stadium ahead of Sunday's match.
