Joe Aribo's move to Southampton was "more of a shock" than Calvin Bassey 's Ajax deal, according to Simon Ferry. The duo both departed Rangers earlier this summer after impressing in their light blue jersey's last season to help Gio van Bronckhorst 's side reach the Europa League Final.
Their form sparked the interest from a number of clubs before Aribo made the move to Southampton with Calvin Bassey trading Glasgow for Amsterdam.
Aribo, who only had 12 months left on his contract at Ibrox left, was sold to the Premier League side for an initial fee of £6million, though this could rise to £10million if certain add-ons are met during his stay at St Mary's.
But the deal was worth considerably less than Bassey's, who joined Ajax for an initial £19.6million that could rise to £22.7million with add-ons.
