India-Pakistan tie among World Cup matches set to be rescheduled

NEW DELHI : Barely three months to go before the start of the 50-overs World Cup, the organising Indian cricket board has said the schedule would be adjusted and an Oct.

The blockbuster India v Pakistan clash is one of nine matches to be rescheduled for the 50-over World Cup later this year as the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced on Wednesday that tickets will go on sale on Aug. 25.
Team India's ICC ODI World Cup match against arch-rivals Pakistan has been rescheduled to a different date, while details of eight other matches have also been changed. India and Pakistan were initially scheduled to face each other on October 15. However, the match will now be played a day earlier on October 14. Eight other fixture have been resheduled, including India's game against Netherlands, which will now be played on November 12, instead on Novemeber 11.
Last month, after much wait, the Asia Cup 2023 schedule was finally announced by Jay Shah, BCCI secretary and  Asian Cricket Council (ACC) head. The timings of the matches were announced on Tuesday. This time the tournament is being played in a hybrid model, after Shah declared last year that India would not be travelling to Pakistan for the event. The tournament will begin with a match between Pakistan and Nepal in Multan, Pakistan, on August 30. The much-awaited India-Pakistan clash will take place in Kandy, Sri Lanka, on September 2. India will face Nepal in the other group stage match on September 4 at the same venue.
