Huge emergency response as road closed after car hits tram post

Emergency services have rushed out to a busy Tameside road following a crash involving a 16-year-old boy. The A662 Droylsden Road, in Audenshaw, is currently closed in both directions near the border with Droylsden.

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) says the crash involves a vehicle which hit a tram post on North Drive, which took place at around 8pm tonight (October 15).

The boy was rescued by firefighters. Police and paramedics are also at the scene. Witnesses have reported seeing more than 30 emergency service vehicles at the scene.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “Just after 8pm this evening (Saturday, October 15), two fire engines from Ashton and Philips Park fire station, along with the Technical Response Unit were called to reports of a vehicle colliding into a tram post on North Drive, Audenshaw.
