How Lawrence and Roofe would fit into Rangers XI after Michael Beale reveal as new boys settle for watching brief

After a thrilling encounter with PSV Eindhoven Michael Beale appears to be bringing the best out of his revamped squad as they head north to face Ross County.

But with nine new recruits in the door at Rangers the puzzle of a revamped squad may not quite have been solved with Tom Lawrence available for his first competitive appearance in almost a year alongside Kemar Roofe who returns to the squad for the trip to the Highlands - with Beale insisting he sees both players as starters in his side this term.

Neither are expected to be handed a start with the duo working up to full fitness - but a shake up could be on the cards of the Ibrox starting line-up.

Roofe has faced an injury-plagued campaign last term only managing six appearances in all competitions but has slowly been ramping up his return behind the scenes at Auchenhowie - making cameos off the bench against Kilmarnock and Morton so far this term.

Tom Lawrence has implored Rangers to see off PSV and grant him a second Champions League chance. The Welshman was part of the team that dumped the Dutchmen in last year’s playoff shootout. But he was denied his moment among the European elite by an injury sustained the very next match which ultimately ended up wrecking his debut season in Glasgow. The 29-year-old finally brought his 12-month layoff nightmare to and on Saturday, though, as he climbed off the bench late on during Rangers ’ 2-0 win over Ross County. However, he’ll be back on a watching brief on Wednesday night as Gers return to Eindhoven for the second-leg having been left out of Michael Beale ’s Uefa squad. The tie is finely poised at 2-2 but Lawrence is backing his team-mates to put on a repeat show of last year’s famous win. He said: “We play for Rangers and we want to win every game. That should be our thoughts first and foremost.
