How Can RCB Beat CSK To Enter IPL Playoffs? Sunil Gavaskar's 'Virtually Impossible' Mantra

Royal Challengers Bengaluru take on Chennai Super Kings in a crucial IPL 2024 encounter on Saturday with both of their playoff dreams heavily dependent on the result.

While CSK have a slight advantage with 14 points from 13 matches, a good win for RCB can guarantee a spot in the Top-4 for the Faf Du Plessis-led side.

Legendary India Sunil Gavaskar believes that CSK are extremely dangerous in these kind of situations due to their experience of playing on the big stage and he advised RCB to make it 'virtually impossible' for the Ruturaj Gaikwad-led side to reach a position where they can 'turn the game around'.  “It's not just the fact that they've won the title five times.

Look at the number of times, they've been in the playoffs that is also a key. I think they've also been runner-ups three times.

The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) struggled to impose themselves in the first half of the Indian Premier 2024 season, suffering 7 losses in the first 8 games they played. Though Virat Kohli was the only player in the team scoring runs consistently, he too came in the line of fire, as critics questioned his strike-rate and intent en route to the big scores he managed to put on the board. In the second-half of the season, however, Kohli didn't just improve his strike-rate, he looked to play with a lot more intent. When Dinesh Karthik was asked about the criticism Virat faced, he thanked 'experts' for spurring the RCB batter on by targeting him.
Rajasthan Royals skipper Sanju Samson had a good show in IPL 2024. On the captaincy front, he led the side to Qualifier 2 where they lost to SunRisers Hyderabad by 36 runs. Meanwhile, as a batter, Samson scored 531 runs at an average of 48.27 and strike rate of 153.47. However, he failed to showcase his glamour in the Qualifier 2 and lost his wicket for 10 runs off 11 balls in the game in Chennai during RR's chase of 176.
Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar has slammed Rajasthan Royals (RR) youngster Riyan Parag for throwing away his wicket in the crucial IPL 2024 Qualifier 2 match against SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Friday. Parag scored just six runs off 10 balls as he was dismissed by SRH's impact substitute Shahbaz Ahmed. Chasing 176, RR did not score a single boundary in 22 balls before the in-form decided to take on Shahbaz. However, Parag top-edged his shot that went straight up to Abhishek at deep mid-wicket.
When the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 started, Lucknow Super Giants' Mayank Yadav was being hailed as the breakaway star of this edition. His speed generated awe as he regularly clocked over 150kmph. His case was almost same as Umran Malik, a couple of seasons back, who broke fast bowling record in the IPL. Umran Malik has been in the shadows in the IPL 2024. Mayank also did not look the same after an injury cut kept him out for considerable time.
The IPL 2024 playoffs started on Tuesday with Qualifier 1 between Kolkata Knight Riders and SunRisers Hyderabad. KKR missed the services of their fiery opener Phil Salt in their clash. Salt hails from England. It's not only KKR, other like Rajasthan Royals, Royal Challengers Bengaluru will be missing some England players in the playoff stage. The reason for that is that England players have left India to join the national side before the 2024 T20 World Cup.
Virat Kohli was a livewire on the outfield during the IPL 2024 Eliminator between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Wednesday. Kohli, who scored 33 off 24 balls, saved plenty of runs for RCB with his fielding in the deep. In the 12th over of RR's 173-run chase, Kohli covered plenty of ground near the midwicket boundary before unleashing a bullet throw to end Riyan Parag and Dhruv Jurel's partnership.
