Three children were rushed to hospital after being hit by a van in a horrific crash on Tuesday afternoon (August 15). Police were called to the scene of the serious collision on Garstang Road (A6) in Barton, Lancashire, at around 1.15pm to reports of a van hitting pedestrians.
Three children were taken to hospital from the scene, with one currently in a critical but stable condition. The road was closed off for a number of hours for investigations to be carried out. A man, aged 59 from Nateby has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and remains in custody to be questioned.
Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses. A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said: "We were called to Garstang Road at 1.15pm today to reports of a serious collision involving a van and pedestrians. "The pedestrians, three children, have been taken to hospital.
One is currently in a critical but stable condition. "A 59-year-old man from Nateby, near Garstang, has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
