Hamilton Accies have signed defender Dylan McGowan on a permanent deal as they strengthen their push for the League One title.

The 32-year-old Australian has signed a two-year deal. Former Hearts and Kilmarnock stopper McGowan was on loan at Accies from Rugby Park last season and was quickly made captain by boss John Rankin.

McGowan left Killie in the summer and initially turned down a contract offer made by Accies. But Rankin has been chasing him all summer and thought he had the deal done a month ago.

However, the New Douglas Park club announced today that they have got him on board. A message on social media read: "Dylan has signed a two-year deal with the club which will see him contracted until May 2025 and we are delighted to have him on board in our push for promotion to the Championship."
