We're almost into August now - but the weather isn't quite looking like it. After a hot and sunny June, the weather in July felt more like autumn than summer.

And as we move into August this week, more 'unsettled' weather conditions are forecast. According to the Met Office, temperatures will 'remain below average' for this time of year across the UK in the first half of the month.

The heavy rain will hit our region today (Monday), with cloudy conditions changing to heavy showers by 11am in some parts. 'Persistent' showers are forecast all afternoon with temperatures reaching highs of around 18C.

Forecasters predict the rain will ease into the early hours of tomorrow. Tuesday looks set to be another unsettled day, with outbreaks of rain, cloud and sunny spells.
