Peterborough United boss Grant McCann was gutted to lose Sammie Szmodics this week but admits he belongs at Championship level.
The 26-year-old has signed a three-year deal at Ewood Park, with the option of a further 12 months. After seeing bids knocked back by relegated Posh, Rovers got a deal done with Szmodics eventually snapped for an undisclosed fee.
He becomes the third signing to the senior squad this summer, after Callum Brittain and Tyler Morton. Szmodics featured for Peterborough in their opening fixture of the League One season, but now departs for pastures new and another crack at the second-tier - in which he scored seven goals last season.
Those goals weren't enough to keep Peterborough in the division, but McCann feels Szmodics is more than good enough to cut it in the Championship. : Blackburn Rovers' best XI debated after Szmodics transfer "This transfer has been rumbling on for a while now," said McCann. "I was told about Blackburn’s interest while we were in Portugal and Sammie came to see me and made it clear he wanted to make the move.
