Gary Neville doesn't believe Manchester United will finish in the top five this season, despite predicting they would finish third before the campaign started.

United were on the verge of a third consecutive defeat in all competitions on Saturday before Scott McTominay's late rescue act secured a dramatic three points against Brentford.

The win leaves the Reds on 12 points after eight league games. Depending on how English teams perform in this season's European competitions, as many as five teams could qualify for next season's Champions League via their final league standing.

However, even if fifth place does secure a place in the 2024/25 edition of the competition, Neville doesn't think United will qualify.
