South African Gary Kirsten has left his role as head coach of the Welsh Fire in English cricket's The Hundred competition.Kirsten, 54, has been at the helm of the Cardiff-based team for the first two seasons of The Hundred.Their results haven't been good, winning only three of eight games in 2021 and losing all eight in 2022.Kirsten confirmed his departure to cricket specialist website ESPNcricinfo.Kirsten, a former Proteas opening batsman and head coach, was recently also involved as a consultant for the Netherlands during their T20 World Cup campaign in Australia.
The team made headlines at the event when the beat Kirsten's native South Africa in their final game, in the process knocking the Proteas out of the event.Kirsten is also a batting consultant for reigning Indian Premier League champions, the Gujarat Titans.
