From 450/9 To 'Two Day Game': Kevin Pietersen Trolled For India vs England 1st Test Prediction

Former England cricket team batter Kevin Pietersen was trolled heavily on social media by ex-India opener Wasim Jaffer after his prediction regarding England's batting on Day 1 of the first Test match against India on Thursday went horribly wrong.

At the start of day's play, Pietersen took to social media to post that he believes England will declare their innings on 450/9.

However, Ben Stokes was the only England batter to cross the 50-run mark as Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja took three wickets each to bowl out the visitors for 246 in the third session.

Jaffer was quick to react to Pietersen's prediction on X (formerly called Twitter) and his witty reply even had a reference to Dinesh Karthik.

India will need to be ruthless and tactful in equal measure while dealing with an unpredictable England when the third chapter of a riveting Test series begins in Rajkot on Thursday. After England shocked India in the series opener at Hyderabad, the hosts came back strong in Vizag to get on level footing, leaving the five-match series perfectly poised. The brilliance of Yashasvi Jaiswal (321 runs) and Jasprit Bumrah (15) allowed India to make a comeback in the series but concerns remain over a misfiring middle-order, which will now be relying on the young talent to deliver the goods.

The Hyderabad Test loss should serve as wake-up call for India that England's 'Bazball' strategy is effective on slow tracks as well, according to former captain Nasser Hussain. Since embracing Bazball, England are yet to lose a Test series and they fashioned a memorable 28-run win on the back of Ollie Pope's monumental 196 and debutant left-arm spinner Tom Hartley's seven-wicket haul after conceding a massive 190-run first innings lead in the opening Test against India. "India will probably rue their first innings. They got 436 but actually they could have got a lot more if not for some sloppy dismissals. They will come back. They are a very fine side and history tells you it will be tough for England," Hussain wrote in his column for 'Sky Sports'.
Debutant spinner Tom Hartley took seven wickets as England pulled off a dramatic 28-run upset win over India marked by a stellar batting performance by Ollie Pope in the opening Test on Sunday.
