Frenkie de Jong urung bermain saat Barcelona menggulung Sevilla 5-1 pada akhir pekan lalu.

Pelatih Barca Hansi Flick dilaporkan menghukum De Jong. Gelandang top Belanda tersebut bermasalah dengan cedera pergelangan kaki di awal musim ini.

Usai dinyatakan fit lagi, De Jong dimainkan sebagai pengganti di pertandingan kontra Young Boys dan Deportivo Alaves. Laga kandang melawan Sevilla, Minggu (20/10/2024) sebenarnya jadi kesempatan De Jong untuk mendapatkan lebih banyak menit bermain.

Akan tetapi, Flick akhirnya hanya memasukkan Fermin Lopez, Pablo Torre, dan Gavi untuk menyegarkan lini tengah. Sedangkan Frenkie de Jong sama sekali tidak dilibatkan meski melakukan pemanasan di sebagian besar babak kedua.
