Football clubs across Kent have sent messages of support to a player who is in a critical condition after collapsing on the pitch.
Corinthian player Cameron Beckles collapsed during their Kent Senior Trophy match at Larkfield & New Hythe on Saturday and was initially taken to Maidstone hospital before being transferred for surgery in London that night.
A statement released on Monday night by Corinthian - who play football in the step five Southern Counties East Football League - said that the player remained in a “stable but critical condition and will continue to be monitored closely over the next 48 hours.” Fawkham-based side Corinthian added that their “thoughts and prayers are with Cam and his family, and we as a football club continue to support them in any way we can.” Their statement also said “the management, players and in particular the physios of both sides acted swiftly and with complete professionalism and we offer our thanks to Larkfield for this.”
