Ebbsfleet United manager Josh Wright reacts to 2-1 win over Dorking Wanderers in National League South

Ebbsfleet boss Josh Wright had visions of conceding a stoppage-time equaliser again on Saturday.

The Fleet led 2-1 against Dorking Wanderers in National League South when eight minutes of stoppages were displayed. They held on this time for their first league win since August 19.

But Wright was understandably nervous after they conceded a 95th-minute leveller against Eastbourne two weeks earlier when leading by the same scoreline.

“I wasn't just thinking that, I said it to David Kerslake (assistant manager),” admitted Wright. “I actually said he's adding seven on, but then he added eight, and I said, the Eastbourne game comes to mind.

“I felt either there was another goal in the game - they either get one or we get another one - with the way the game was going. But I thought we were superb the way we defended that and saw it out, the way we managed it.

“Of course I was nervous, it's out of your control a little bit within reason. Everyone's frantic and the adrenaline's running and the blood's pumping, one little mistake or decision can cost you.

“But we were unlucky against Eastbourne because I thought we were managing it fine. The rest is history and I’m not going to go over old ground.

“But on Saturday, did Gio (Bellagambi, goalkeeper) have a save to make in that eight minutes? I think he claimed a couple of balls but we managed it and saw the game out well. We could have actually finished it off and gone 3-1 up.

“I'm really pleased to have seen that out as those thoughts go through your mind.

“Now we've got that monkey off our back, as they say, hopefully we can, in the next stoppage times in games, when we're winning, be a little bit more relaxed.”

Wright was hesitant to suggest his team have clicked after a winless
