England wicketkeeper Ben Foakes will miss the rest of the third Test against New Zealand at Headingley after testing positive for Covid-19, with Sam Billings called up as a like-for-like replacement.

Foakes was unable to keep wicket on day three due to a stiff back - Jonny Bairstow took the gloves at that point - and he subsequently tested positive for coronavirus after further medical assessment.

There are no other positive tests in the England camp. Kent wicketkeeper Billings, who made his Test debut in the final Ashes fixture in Hobart over the winter, will take over from Foakes when the fourth day starts in Leeds at 11:00 BST, live on Sky Sports Cricket.

England hope Foakes will be fit for the Test against India at Edgbaston, which starts on Friday. An ECB statement read: "England Men's Test wicketkeeper Ben Foakes has tested positive for Covid-19. We are living in an age of wonders, at least with regard to the England men’s cricket team.
England have produced four remarkable Test victories since the start of the international summer, with a series whitewash over New Zealand and a record-breaking chase against India at Edgbaston.
Jonny Bairstow both hit hundreds as England continued their resurgence with a record fourth-innings chase to beat India by seven wickets in the Covid-delayed fifth Test at Edgbaston on Tuesday. Set 378 to win, England finished on 378-3, with former captain Root 142 not out and Bairstow 114 not out -- his second hundred of the match after he made 106 in the hosts' first-innings 284. As it happened | ScorecardVictory saw England level this five-match series at 2-2. No England side had previously made more to win in the fourth innings of a Test than 359, when now captain Ben Stokes' brilliant century led them to a thrilling victory over Australia at Headingley three years ago. But that record was overhauled with ease after England's first series under a new leadership duo of Stokes and coach Brendon McCullum had seen them chase down seemingly stiff targets of 277, 299 and 296 during a 3-0 whitewash of Test world champions New Zealand.
Joe Root hit yet another century as he continued his fine form in Test cricket to take England to an emphatic victory over India in the Edgbaston Test. Root hit an unbeaten 142 off 173 as England chased down a mammoth 378 with seven wickets remaining to deny India a series win. The five-match series ended in a 2-2 draw. Giving Root company was Jonny Bairstow, who scored 114 not out, adding to his century from the first innings. On Day 5, Root surprisingly was the aggressor, taking on the Indian bowlers and peppering the boundaries consistently.
Another outstanding century from Jonny Bairstow, his third in as many Tests and fifth this year, was not enough to prevent India racking up a sizeable lead on day three of the series decider against England.
Team India are currently on top in the ongoing rescheduled fifth Test against England at Edgbaston, Birmingham and it is mainly due to the spirited fightback led by Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja on Day 1 of the match. India were 98/5 and it was then that Jadeja and Pant forged a 222-run stand for the sixth wicket with Pant eventually scoring 146 while Jadeja played a knock of 104. Former South Africa skipper AB de Villiers on Monday praised the duo for their performance.
