Five flood alerts remain in place in Greater Manchester this morning following a long spell of heavy rain. The Environment Agency issued the warnings yesterday (Sunday) after the Met Office issued a yellow warning weather warning for rain until 11.59pm.

A number of roads were closed yesterday due to flooding and surface water, with further closures put in place overnight. According to the Environment Agency, people living in areas covered by the flood alerts should 'be prepared' as waters levels rise.

Although the Met Office predicts a much drier day today, the flood alerts remain in place. Join our WhatsAp p Top Stories and Breaking News group by clicking this link. In Wigan, Loire Drive at Robin Park was shut off yesterday due to 'reports of flood water entering homes due to surface water'.
