'Exceptional' Indian restaurant in pretty market town less than an hour from Manchester that's been named best in North West

An Indian restaurant and takeaway less than an hour from Greater Manchester has won a top award at the ‘Curry Oscars'. Ruchi in Glossop took home one of the biggest awards of the night as it was crowned as the North West's best Asian Restaurant of the Year at the Asian Curry Awards.

More than 1200 guests attended the prestigious event held in London on Sunday night (19 November), which is often dubbed the 'Curry Oscars'.

More than 200 restaurants, chefs and staff were shortlisted for the awards including 14 restaurants in Greater Manchester - but only a handful from the region took home the all-important gongs.

Owners of the restaurant took to social media following their win to the express their gratitude. In a post shared to Facebook titled 'Exciting News', they wrote: "Massive thanks to everyone who voted and supported us for the past 14 years.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Wednesday announced the extension of contracts for head coach Rahul Dravid and the support staff of Team India (Senior Men). "The BCCI engaged in productive discussions with Rahul Dravid after the term of his contract ended following the recently concluded ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023 and unanimously agreed to further the tenure," BCCI said in an official statement.
