Erling Braut Haaland’s Premier League debut could not have gone any better. After a lacklustre display in the Community Shield against Liverpool, which included a dreadful miss in stoppage-time, the Norwegian announced himself on the English stage against West Ham United. Haaland bagged both of Manchester City‘s goals in a comfortable 2-0 win at the London Stadium.
The former Borussia Dortmund striker opened the scoring in the first half from the penalty spot after he was upended in the box by West Ham ‘keeper Alphonse Areola.
Haaland then made it 2-0 following the half-time interval, the 21-year-old latching onto an inch-perfect pass from Kevin De Bruyne and cooly slotting the ball into the corner of the net.
West Ham just simply couldn’t live with City’s new main man. Haaland’s pace, strength and knack for finding space in the final third were just too much for the likes of Kurt Zouma and Ben Johnson.
