Manchester United's hopes for a better goal return next season can't rest solely on Rasmus Hojlund's shoulders. MEN Sport understands United are confident of agreeing a deal for the Atalanta striker before they start their Premier League campaign against Wolves.

United made the 20-year-old their top priority up front after Tottenham Hotspur discouraged an approach for Harry Kane. Erik ten Hag has held video calls with Hojlund and has made provisions to help the youngster adapt to life at Old Trafford.

Marcus Rashford has been earmarked as an alternative down the middle to ease the forward into the Premier League. United are preparing to spend £60million on Hojlund, which undoubtedly adds pressure.

Anyone who joins Manchester United will feel the weight of expectation but given their pressing need for goals, Hojlund will be scrutinised intensely.
