Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has admitted that he is not sure if Christian Eriksen will be available to face former club Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford on Wednesday evening.

The Denmark international, who joined United on a free transfer from Brentford during the summer, missed Sunday's goalless draw with Newcastle United through illness.

It was the first time he had not featured for the Reds in the Premier League so far this season. Eriksen, who has arguably been United's standout player so far this term, was sorely missed against the Magpies.

United lacked control in midfield, particularly in the first half, and did not get into enough advanced positions to test visiting goalkeeper Nick Pope.
