Erik ten Hag has outlined the characteristics he looks for when deciding on players to target in the transfer market. The Dutchman is set to complete his fourth signing of the summer shortly, with an agreement in place to sign midfielder Casemiro from Real Madrid.

He is set to become the latest addition to the United squad following the signing of playmaker Christian Eriksen and defenders Tyrell Malacia and Lisandro Martinez. The club's scattergun approach in the summer window has come across as desperate at times, but the new United manager insists each target has passed a series of character tests before being considered by the club. “It starts with the basic stuff,” Ten Hag told club media when asked what he looks for in a potential new signing. "[You have to be] reliable, have drive, have the motivation – [be] highly motivated. “You [should] want to fight and you [should] bring it every day on the training pitch.

You want to strengthen the squad. “You are [part of] a unified club, a unified team and, most of, all you are prepared to win.” NEXT UP: United news latest Antony addresses future Eriksen details impact of result vs Liverpool Carragher's brutal verdict Casemiro transfer
